Ukan was born the second of four chidren to a family in the Ushahir tribe of the Umli in the far north. All of his mothers pregnancies were difficult, and she became sickly after her fourth child, never really recovering. He grew up on the taiga, and tundra of the north, occassionally venturing south as far as the great pine forrests. He learned to hunt, gather, fish, and create or find shelter in the most inhospitable wilderness. But his chief skills were always as a warrior.
Ukan honed his combat skills against rival tribes, occassional mannish incursions, but he was constantly in combat with the Ice Orcs of the farthest north. He learned to weild a hammer in each hand, and to use his shield as a weapon in itself. He grew up to be quick, nimble, and has a high threshold for pain. Eventually his Lati(tribe) occupied an ancient abandoned Dwarf hold.
Ukan got lost exploreing the bowels of the ancient Dwarf lodging, and wandered for weeks in the dark. Unknown to him, he kept going deeper, and deeper until he was captured by Goblin slavers. He was taken down deeper still, until the Goblins were ambushed by a group of escaped slaves. Ukan stayed with the smal community of escapees using his skills as a warrior in their defence.
When Gallus arrived and offered a chance of returning to the surface Ukan joined him. He has proven his worth as a warrior, and been seconded to Korobands command, where he serves with the twins. Ukan is somewhat intuitive, and has picked up a small bit of channeling lore. He also serves as liason between Gallus' people, and the group of escaped slaves lead by the Dwarf Zarad. The escapees contracted with Gallus to get them back to the surface. They are a mix of Dwarven, Elvish, and Mannish peoples, and don't trust Gallus' orcs, trolls, and other foul creatures. Ukan ensures that things go smoothly, and the two groups are kept seperate.
