Koroband is a Goblin, and a former soldier of The Goblin Kingdom which dominates the western section of the underdeeps beneath western Eriador. while on the surface Goblin is synonymous with orc, and Hobgoblin with Uruk-Hai, in the underdeeps they remain a distict race. Like all of his people Koroband is a tough negotiator, and shrewd trader.
He resigned his commission in the army after his obligatory service, and set out as a free Goblin seeking profit, and adventure. He became an accomplished slaver, and often raided Troglodyte areas. It was on such a raiding expedition that his band encountered Gallus. They became friends, and did some trading of goods and information, before going their seperate ways. Later Gallus found him among the prisoners of a group of Kobolds, and freed him. He took up his old trade again, but had lost the totally free spirit of a young Goblin. Now aware of his own mortality he tried to be thoughtful, though he was still fearless.
He was returning to the next Deep, where the Goblin Kingdom was, with a load of captured slaves, when he encountered Gallus yet again. This time the elf had a some new companions, and one of them caught Korobands eye. She was a female Dwarf named Alma, and he had never seen anything like her. Novelty turned to infatuation after this, and he resolved to pursue her. After selling the slaves Koroband spent most of his share of the profits on Khuzdul lesson-very expensive, and difficult to get access to. The remainder he spent on a beautiful set of forging tools for her. then he set out in search of Gallus and Alma.
She took some convincing of his true intentions, but was very persisten. He constantly showered her with gifts, and spent every coin he got on her. He risked his life for her, and even risked his life to get her things he though she would want. Eventually she relented, and returned his love. They have been inseperable ever since.
Like Caris, Koroband is an independent associate, not a slave or follower of Gallus. He acts as an adviser to the Mage on the underdeeps, and its creatrures and cultures. Koroband is a stout fighter, and fell hand with a sword.
