Grala's mother was a Uruk-hai, and an officer in a very rare female dominated orc tribe in Cardolan. Her father was Dunlending, of the Siol Arfea tribe. He was captured when the orcs raided his village, and made a slave of Grala's mother. Grala was born a slave, and the daughter of a slave, and was sold at age 6 to a Uruk-hai healer. The healer used her as a servant, and a personal toy, and discovered Grala's abilities with channeling. The Uruk deemed the slave girls ability insufficient to warrant training, and so she remained a slave.
When Grala was 12 years old her father escaped, taking her with him, and returning to his people. Grala was accepted into Dunlending society, but her father was at the lowest social status, and she worked as a servant of those with higher status. She was ridiculed, and taunted for her orc heritage, but it was somewhat better than being the slave of an orc. She did enjoy her cooking duties, and became quite skilled at cooking, and foraging. She also developed her knowledge of plants, and herbs. The serfs of her fathers tribe also tended the sick and injured and had much to teach the eager young girl. She became one of the best of the minor healers among them.
After five years fate interviened again when her mothers tribe destroyed the village, and exterminated her father's people. She was recaptured by her former Mistress, and was forced to watch her own mother, and her Mistress torture, and kill her father. she tried to keep a low profile, and be a good slave. She also tried to pay attention to everything her Mistress did or said, and learn all she could of healing, and magic. It was not long before a force of Cardolani soldiers, filled out by Dunnish mercenaries exterminated her mothers tribe, klling all of the orcs, and destroying their lair.
The Dunlendings took Grala as a slave as part of their payment for service. They were heading south, on their way to their homes in Dunland for the winter when Gallus came upon them in the wild. He and Krathak killed the warriors, and took the females as slaves. Gallus quickly became enamoured of Grala, especially by her nonchalant attitude about everything. It seemed nothing could shock or phase her. She was used to being a slave and offered no resistance, and expected nothing. The first time he tried to take her, she told him to be quick as she had work to do. He was so shocked that he left, and went off to think about what this meant.
Galus freed Grala, and eventually married her. She has fought by his side ever since. He shares everything with her, including his command, and his other wives, and concubines. Grala has developed some skills in combat, but most of her energy has gone toward the healing arts. To make up for her lack of magical ability she has studied everythig she could about the body, and its ways. Given the unusual nature of her associates she has experience with the anatomy, and ailments of more species of intelligent life than any other healer in Middle Earth. Her skills have been applied to humans, elves, orcs, trolls, dwarves, and other races not known in the well lit world above ground. Her secular skills make her one of best, and most experienced physicians in the world.
Grala is tougher, and bigger than most orcs, and with a much more human appearance. She is very agile. Although her appearance is average she is strong of will, and takes her position and power quite seriously. Woe be unto the orc that fails to obey her word for she speaks for her Lord, and Master. Grala now has her own slaves and concubines, weapons, gear, and treasure, but she does not covet these things. She is totally loyal to Gallus, and no one under his Lordship would dare to question Grala, except perhaps her rival, the Troglodyte Preistess Lethsa. But that can be dealt with..........................
Grala is with Gallus on his detour through the underdeeps. One of her greatest accomplishments is Grala's Compendium, a journal of all the life forms they encounter, from the intelligent to the common fungus. She studies everything, and records it all. she even vivisects the dead, seeking the secrets of their bodies. She talks extensively with any and all healers, preists, or other keepers of knowledge. If she ever returns to the surface her book may be one of the most valuable ever written.
Grala is pregnent with female triplets, but she does not let this interfere with either her duties or desires. She insists on being at he lord's side on each and every mission, no matter how dangerous. One can only wonder what effect this exposure to danger, magic, elements and powerful unlife will have on the unborn children.
