Draulak is a very rare creature: a comon orc bard. While most tribes have an individual or two who can "play" drums or blow trumpets true bards are extremely rare among orcs. Spellcasting, especially through music is considered rather effiminate. Subsequently most orcs who would become bards change their direction or do not survive imphood.
Fortunately for Draulak his one spell (Calm Song) allowed him to stave off destruction. As he grew he became skilled in a number of varied areas but was not a great warrior, and his refusal to wear armor increased his comrades resentment of him. He managed to escape just ahead of the plot to kill him, and wandered in Cardolan for awhile as a parriah, or tribeless orc.
Eventually he fell in with other parriahs, and they were captured by the Beffraen. Gallus claimed them and Draulak became the mage's herald. He carries Gallus' banner strapped to his back with a harness which also supports several drums. He is in the process of making more instruments, and Gallus encourages his interests.
