William Bonny, aka Henry Antrim, aka Henry McCarty, aka Kid Antrim, aka Billy the kid is newly on his own and arrested twice for minor thefts thought to be more out necessity than criminality.

Pat Garrett-working as a cowboy in Dallas County, Texas. In 1875 he leaves to become a buffalo hunter.

Doc Holliday is in trouble for illegal gambling in Dallas TX, and shooting at a saloon keeper.

Wyatt Earp is a lawman in Wichita, Kansas.

Virgil Earp likely working in rail construction in Wyoming, or as a farmer, stagecoach driver, a sawmill sawyer near Wichita Kansas

Morgan Earp departed the Earp clan living in Wichita, Kansas, and became a deputy sheriff under Charlie Bassett at Dodge City

Calamity Jane is Scouting for the army. In 1875 her detachment was ordered to the Big Horn River, under General Crook. Bearing important dispatches, she swam the Platte River and traveled 90 miles (145 km) at top speed while wet and cold to deliver them. Afterwards, she became ill. After recuperating for a few weeks, she rode to Fort Laramie, Wyoming. She then accompanied the Newton-Jenney Party into the Black Hills, along with California Joe and Valentine McGillycuddy.

Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh aka "Dirty" Dave Rudabaugh is either in Decatur, Texas or the Black Hills area of South Dakota engagin in various criminal activity. Over the next several decades he will become the only gunfighter to have known Dave Mather, Bat Masterson, Pat Garrett, Wyatt Earp, Billy The Kid, Ike Clanton, Johnny Ringo, and Doc Holiday.

Mysterious Dave Mather is either in Decatur, Texas with Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh or in Dodge City, Kansas.

Bat Masterson, aka Bartholomew Masterson, aka William Barclay Masterson, After moving near Wichita Kansas in the early 1870's, works as a buffalo hunter and army scout. He is fighting Commache and Kiowa indians. Last year he participated in the battle of Adobe Walls.

Kit Carson Died 1 month after his wife on May 23rd 1868 from an abdominal aortic aneurysm at Fort Lyon, colorado. Buried next to his wife in Taos, New Mexico. his last words were "Adios compadres."

Jim Bridger living in Westport, Missouri. Attempting unsuccessfully to collect rent from the Federal government for it's use of Fort Bridger which he built as a trading post.

Jedediah Smith Killed by the Comanche in May of 1831 on the Santa Fe trail near the Cimarron river south of Ulysses, Kansas.

Geronimo In 1875 all Apaches west of the Rio Grande were ordered to the San Carlos Reservation. Geronimo escaped from the reservation three times and although he surrendered, he always managed to avoid capture.

Cochise Cochise retired in 1874 to his new reservation, with his friend Jeffords as agent. He died of natural causes (probably of abdominal cancer) before the end of 1874.

George Armstrong Custer In 1874, Custer led an expedition into the Black Hills and announced the discovery of gold on French Creek near present-day Custer, South Dakota. Custer's announcement triggered the Black Hills Gold Rush. Among the towns that immediately grew up was Deadwood, South Dakota, notorious for lawlessness. In 1875 he is either serving a suspension, still living at Fort Abraham Lincoln with his wife, and/or buying horses from Bosque Bonita Farm in preparation for the 1876 expedition against the Sioux and Cheyenne.

Crazy Horse Raiding and fighting Northern Pacific Railway suveyors, white settlers, the U.S. Army, and other Native American tribes. He will be among those who ignore the U.S. Army order to return to a reservation by January 31, 1876. This will precipitate the 1876 military expedition against the Sioux and Cheyenne.

Sitting bull Not agreeing to the 1868 Treaty of Fort Laramie, he continued to raid and launch ht and run attacks on settlements and forts in the upper Missouri area throughout the early 1870's.

Mike O'Rourke-aka "Johnny O'Rourke" or "Johnny-Behind-the-Deuce," is 12 years old, growing up in Arizona. It will be another 6 years before Wyatt Earp saves his life in Tombstone.

King Fisher-Is conducting raids into Mexico from his ranch near Eagle Pass, Texas, getting in fights, killing people, and occasionally getting arrested.

Pony Diehl- is riding with the John kinney Gang. They will be part of the Murphy-Dolan faction in the Lincoln County War. This year they will get in a fight with U.S. Cavalry soldiers in Las Cruces, New Mexico in which 2 soldiers and 1 civilian are killed and 2 soldiers and 1 civilian are wounded.

John Kinney-Is leading his gang in robbery and cattle rustling in New Mexico. This year they will get in a fight with U.S. Cavalry soldiers in Las Cruces, New Mexico in which 2 soldiers and 1 civilian are killed and 2 soldiers and 1 civilian are wounded.

Jesse Evans-Is riding with the john Kinney Gang. This year they will get in a fight with U.S. Cavalry soldiers in Las Cruces, New Mexico in which 2 soldiers and 1 civilian are killed and 2 soldiers and 1 civilian are wounded. After this, in 1876, he will form his own gang known as The Jesse Evans Gang or The Boys. Billy the Kid will ride with them for a time. They will be recruited into the Murphy-dolan faction of the Lincoln County War.

Little Bill Standifer-is working as a cowboy in Texas.

John "Pink" Higgins- is working as a cowboy in Lampasas County, Texas. He is taking part in skirmishing with Indians and hanging outlaws. This year he is getting married for the first time.

Josiah Gordon "Doc" Scurlock-Begins the year as a line rider for John Chisum. In September 1875, Scurlock's riding partner, Newt Higgins, was killed by Indians. Scurlock was so upset over this incident he told Chisum he wanted to quit. Chisum, however, would not hear of it and refused to pay him. Scurlock then made the newspapers when he stole three horses, two saddles, and a rifle and left for Arizona. Chisum sent some of his men after Scurlock and they caught up with him, but when he explained that he took the things because Chisum would not pay him, they agreed with him and let him go. In Arizona, he met Charlie Bowdre and the two men opened a cheese factory on the Gila River. Some of Scurlock and Bowdre's descendants have said that one of their first employees was Billy the Kid. They closed the cheese factory in the spring of 1876. He will eventually be a founding memeber of The Regulators, riding for the Tunstall faction in the Lincoln County War.
